Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the query and supplies the result. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent to us may be retained so we can answer. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may collect routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic, popular pages, and how visitors move through the site. Analytics services combine that usage data. You can block cookies through browser settings, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Routing a query to the selected outside search provider
- Operating the site and improving page speed
- Measuring which pages are useful to visitors
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to reach the Clinton County Sheriff, local courts, Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into third-party criminal files or consumer reports, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted to a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy. We do not control its retention or sharing choices, so review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Michigan agencies, legal-aid resources, and outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is outside our direct control.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 and will delete such information when a valid request identifies it.
Your Data Rights
Michigan's Consumer Protection Act, MCL 445.901 through 445.922, and other law may provide rights based on the facts and where a person lives. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate information
- Seek a copy of personal data we hold
- Object to certain forms of processing
